The exciting learning in Digital and Design Technologies at Loxton Primary school, has students engaging in a variety of new technologies using a range of tools to enhance learning experiences. Students use laptops, iPads and online applications and programs to design products and apply creative thinking to challenges.
Staff and students work with a specialist teacher to explore the digital world and integrate digital and design technologies into all learning. This includes using sewing and textiles, online coding, engineering design challenges, Lego Technics, Beebots and Robotics. Students are presented with everyday problems and work towards creating new and innovative solutions.
Kitchen Garden Program
Students in Years 3-6 tend to an extensive fruit and vegetable garden. Students plant seeds, nurture seedlings, transplant into the garden and when ripe, pick the produce in readiness for cooking using the produce in recipes in a specially designed 5 bay kitchen. Students make quality and nutritious food items from a variety of different cultures using a range of food preparation tools, equipment and techniques. Food presentation and consumption is a highlight of the cooking lesson.
