Student Support
Curriculum SSO’S
At Loxton Primary School, we have a team of dedicated curriculum School Services Officers (SSOs) who provide tailored support to students in a variety of ways. Our SSOs work directly with students in small groups, one-on-one, and within whole-class settings.
They deliver targeted support in areas such as social skills, literacy, numeracy, and self-regulation, with the aim of assisting and extending students according to their individual needs. Teachers and SSOs collaborate closely across our site to ensure that every student remains at the centre of our practices, and to foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
In addition, our SSOs support students with additional learning needs, including those with disabilities or those requiring tailored intervention programs. They assist teachers with informal assessments, observations, and data collection to monitor student progress. SSOs also contribute to effective classroom management and help facilitate transitions and routines.
Their involvement extends to wellbeing initiatives and extracurricular activities, ensuring all students feel connected and supported within our school community.
Other Supports
Aboriginal Education Teacher (AET)
Our Aboriginal Education Teacher (AET) works directly with Aboriginal students, either in small groups or one-on-one, focusing on specific learning goals. The AET plays a vital role in supporting academic progress and celebrating cultural identity.
Aboriginal Community Education Officer (ACEO)
Our Aboriginal Community Education Officer (ACEO) supports the wellbeing and cultural connection of Aboriginal students. In addition to her targeted work, she helps to support a range of whole-school lunchtime activities, including ‘Just Dance’, craft sessions, and the Dungeons & Dragons club. This ensures all students have access to diverse and engaging activities during break times.
Pastoral Care Worker
Our Pastoral Care Worker runs the Breakfast Club and facilitates Monday lunchtime craft sessions. She visits all classrooms and provides support to students on an as-needed basis, particularly during times of difficulty or distress. The Pastoral Care Worker also assists with sourcing food donations, which are used to prepare lunches for students or to support families experiencing hardship.
External Provider Meeting Spaces
We provide dedicated meeting spaces onsite for external providers, including occupational therapists, speech pathologists, developmental educators, and other specialists. These spaces ensure that students can conveniently access the support services they need during the school day in a comfortable and familiar environment. Our commitment is to make accessing support services as seamless as possible, fostering the wellbeing and development of every student.
